Blue Iolite

Iolite is a transparent gem quality form of cordierite. The name ‘iolite’ comes from the Greek word ‘ios’ meaning violet. Its colour is typically light to dark blue or violet-blue, but it may also occur in light shades of yellow, green, grey, or brown. Violet-blue iolite is considered the ideal colour.
